The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 IV is the fourth generation of the popular RX100 series compacts. This camera presents a type 1. 20 megapixel Exmor RS CMOS sensor sensor with a "stacked" design freeing up more space for high-speed circuits that allows for more sophisticated functions, and is the latest generation of backside illuminated (BSI) designs.
Priced at 10 million, the RX100 IV is capable of recording 4K video (with clips limited to a maximum of 5 minutes), 40x slow-mo high frame rate (HFR) video with 960 fps capture and continuous shooting up to 16 fps. BIONZ X Image Processor has also been installed to maximize its performance.
Like its predecessor, the RX100 IV offers a 24-70mm equivalent Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T F1.8-2.8 lens and an electronic pop-up viewfinder, an OLED panel with 2.35 million dot resolution. Also, don't forget that Sony paired wireless features such as Built-in Wi-Fi Connectivity with NFC.
The evolution of pocket cameras with large sensors has become the belle of many people. This is evident from the emergence of the fourth generation RX100 generation which has the latest breakthrough. Although it has a design and body size that is almost similar, but this latest pocket camera has better performance and a much larger viewfinder.
Most of the new features in the Sony RX100 IV come from the new Sony Exmor RS image sensor, which replaces the previous Exmor R chip in the RX100 III. Featuring the industry's first stacked CMOS sensor design with embedded DRAM.
This allows not only a significant increase in burst capture rate (now up to 16 frames per second at full resolution), but also provides electronic shutter capabilities of up to 1/32,000 seconds.
Interestingly again, Sony claims that high-speed readings will translate to minimal rolling shutter (or jello) effects, even when using electronic shutter. This new sensor also allows the Sony RX100 IV to provide 4K video capture, and high frame-rate video up to 1,000 frames per second.
There have also been improvements in other fields, such as, the new Organic LED display in the electronic popup viewfinder that now has double the number of dots in the previous camera. Sony also included many firmware adjustments in the RX100 IV.
This includes the extended flexible point autofocus function and an additional five second duration self-timer option. When shooting in program Priority or Aperture mode, you can now access the longest shutter speed of 30 seconds which was previously limited to shutter Priority shooting or manual shooting.
Add seven new Picture Profile options that allow you to control things like black levels, gamma, black gamma, knees, and much more. All of these new features are in addition to the equivalent 24-70mm optical zoom lens, f / 1.8-2.8 with SteadyShot image stabilization as in the previous camera.
The RX100 IV has an ISO 125 to 12,800 equivalent sensitivity range (extendable up to ISO 80), a BIONZ X brand image processor, a tilted 3.0-inch LCD monitor and a built-in flash popup.
The ability and image quality of videos with high frame rates (HFR) is quite impressive. Unlike most cameras, the RX100 IV processes video internally to produce 1,920 x 1,080 video as the final product. So the highest speed video will look softer when playing.
The Sony RX100 IV allows you to choose a capture frame rate and frame rate for movie files separately, so you have a variety of slow-motion effects available to you. The frame rate of capture is quite clear, this is the number of times per second the camera will capture new frames, with options of 240fps, 480fps and 960fps.
If you set the camera to PAL video time, the appropriate rates are 250fps, 500fps and 1000fps. File frame rate is the frame / second where the resulting movie will be played back, with the option 24/30 / 60fps in NTSC time or 25 / 50fps in AL mode.

RX100 IV is also equipped with wireless connectivity features such as Wi-Fi / NFC. You can also control the camera remotely by using the Smart Remote Control application that has been installed on your smartphone. You can also share Sony RX100 IV shots to gadgets easily and quickly.
There is a 3-stop ND filter too, allowing you to reduce the amount of light passing through the sensor. The Sony RX100 IV has a 2.46m-dot EVF next to the pop-up flash. This is a good improvement from the fourth generation. Unfortunately, despite a large increase, the battery is not durable. The battery is only able to survive 280 shots per charging.
Although included in the category of pocket cameras, but the Sony RX100 IV has a good and extraordinary performance. He also includes a camera that is responsive, fast and ready to produce high-quality images and videos.
The RX100 IV supports the ability to read the image sensor faster, which in itself enables faster shooting modes with AF because the shutter is fully electronic. Faster reading and buffering also allows 4K video, high frame rate films, and generally more advanced AF.
An impressive, bright, and enhanced EVF lens complements this package and makes this the most capable camera of its kind. For the final results in the form of images and videos, RX100 IV is the right choice.
But you also have to prepare enough budget to buy this camera. Because the Sony RX100 IV is priced at 10 million which is equivalent to a DSLR camera or mirrorless.
