Ricoh GR II is a premium pocket camera aimed directly at photography lovers. At the heart of Ricoh GR II is the APS-C size CMOS image sensor with about 16.2 megapixels, without an anti-aliasing filter and a fixed focal length lens of 28mm that has a fast maximum aperture of f / 2.8.
Images can be recorded either in JPEG format or in Adobe DNG RAW format. There is an external flash pop-up and hotshoe that can accept the optional flashgun or optical viewfinder and full creative control over exposure is available. New features including Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity have also been installed.
Improved white balance algorithm, improved noise management, six more effect modes and wireless flash support. Thanks to the GR ENGINE V imaging engine, the GR II offers high sensitivity shooting up to ISO 25600, plus it can focus in 0.2 seconds and offers 4fps continuous shooting.
As the latest generation of the old version, Ricoh GR II is a compact digital camera that is quite slim and fits in the palm. This camera measures 111.7 mm (W) x 61 mm (H) x 34.7 mm (D) and weighs about 215g without batteries or memory cards installed.
Ricoh uses an APS-C sized CMOS sensor with a total resolution of 16.93 megapixels and a maximum resolution of 4.928 x 3.264 pixels. Combined with the Ricoh GR Engine V image processor, the Ricoh GR II photo results are able to produce sharp colors. Review of Ricoh GR II Indonesia
The camera can shoot images up to four frames per second at full resolution, in JPEG format. The sensitivity range doesn't change much. Still the same as its predecessor, the Ricoh GR II has a sensitivity range of ISO 100 to 25,600 equivalents.
Where the predecessor must rely on third-party Eye-Fi cards are more limited if you want to transfer images to your smartphone or tablet. There are also NFC features that are useful for connecting the camera with a smartphone.
Use the Android / iOS dedicated Image Synchronization application for image transfer, remote live display, and changes to basic settings. You can also control the camera remotely with this application from the web that is similar to the FluCard remote control that is used in some Ricoh Pentax branded cameras.

On the back there is a 3 inch TFT LCD screen with 1,230K dot. Unfortunately this LCD is still not sensitive to touch. On the focusing side, the multi-AF system has 9 separate automatic focus points, and there are also Spot AF, Pinpoint AF, Subject Tracking, Manual Focus, Snap Mode.
The GR II now offers a maximum shutter speed of 1 / 2,500 seconds at f / 2.8. Battery life has been improved although it still uses the same DB-65 lithium-ion battery. Now the battery has a CIPA rating of up to 320 shots, up from 290 shots from its predecessor.
Ricoh GR II does offer a large APS-C image sensor that provides exceptional results. The extremely sharp 28mm lens and the absence of an optical low-pass filter trend both enhance image quality further, with the Adobe DNG RAW format option.
This latest generation has advantages in terms of speed, fast auto focus, fast power-on, shutter-lag and shot-to-shot time. Even so, this is a change that is not too big. So there are still many similarities from the previous version.
