Sony Cyber-shot HX99 is the next generation of HX90 where they are the smallest compact travel zoom camera in the world. Like the HX90, the HX99 packs a 28x optical zoom equivalent to a 24-720mm equivalent lens. The camera also features an Exmor R® type 1 / 2.3 18.2 megapixel CMOS Sensor.
To meet the needs of selfies, Sony also includes a 3-inch touch screen LCD screen with 921,600 dots that can be rotated 180 degrees angled 3.0. Interestingly, the camera also has the ability to record 4K / 30p video with full pixel reading.
The HX99 also includes an LSI front-end processor and BIONZ X, allowing 10 fps shooting with 155 image buffers. Wireless connectivity features such as Wi-Fi and NFC are also installed. With exceptional optical zoom capability and a small body design, it's reasonable that the price of the Sony HX99 is quite expensive at 8 million. Prices are almost the same as a DSLR camera.
At first glance, it appears that the design and style of this latest compact camera is not much different from the HX90. As the smallest pocket camera in the world that is sold with a 28x optical zoom feature, the HX99 has dimensions of 102.0mm x 58.1mm x 35.5mm.
This size is certainly smaller than competitors such as Canon, Nikon and Panasonic. Where they also make pocket cameras with extraordinary optical zoom features. There is something interesting about this camera. If you notice, on the official Sony Indonesia website, the HX99 has an optical zoom of 28x which is equivalent to a 24-720mm equivalent lens.
This value is equivalent to 30x optical zoom. This clearly proves that Sony brings a new lens and sensor. Sony has revealed that although the maximum aperture remains the same at wide angles and telephoto, the actual focus range has changed.
Instead of the previous 4.1-123mm f / 3.5-6.4 lens, the Sony HX99 now uses a 4.25-118mm f / 3.5-6.4 zoom. The camera uses a ZEISS® Vario-Sonnar T * 24-720mm lens that is integrated with the latest AF system namely Fast Intelligent AF and Eye AF responsive. This combination makes the HX99 has high performance and fast focusing speed.
Inside the HX99 there is a rear luminous Exmor RTM CMOS Sensor with an effective resolution of 18.2 megapixels6 and a BIONZ XTM image processing system. Both of these technologies will work together to reduce noise at high ISO settings such as ISO6400.
On continuous shooting capability, HX99 can produce images up to 10 fps. Another change found on the HX99 is the addition of a 921,600 dot tilt LCD touch screen overlay on the back of the camera.
This LCD can be rotated upwards of 180 degrees for selfies. The screen can also be used to control the focus area when shooting through the viewfinder. The HX99 still uses an electronic 0.2-inch OLED 638.4k-dot type viewfinder. Sony HX99 now offers 4K video recording at 25p / 100M or 25p / 60M in XAVC S. format.
If you like slow motion, there are 100p / 100M and 100p / 60M options in 1080 XAVC S HD format. There is also a new 4K XAVC S-compressed video capture and support for raw image capture, not just JPEG.
Along with this change, the battery life drops only slightly. Maybe because the power needed is high enough for a new LSI front-end chip and a new generation BIONZ X processor. HX99 uses a NP-BX1 lithium-ion battery that is capable of taking pictures of up to 370 perecharge shots.
Storage options have changed, with support for various types of MicroSD cards and Memory Sticks smaller than SD cards and Memory Stick Duos. The Fn key can be used to activate Sony Cyber-shot HX99 Wi-Fi connectivity.
With this connectivity you can use to send images or photos of Sony HX99 to a smartphone or tablet. With a simple connection via NFC connected to a smartphone, you can transfer images.

Unlike the previous HX90V, the GPS feature was not included but was replaced by Bluetooth connectivity. This feature can collect and record location data for photos / videos through a connected mobile device. This can save battery life of up to 460 shots.
With new specifications and features, the HX99 is expected to be a pocket camera with the best zoom features in its class. For those of you who are interested and want to buy this camera, prepare a little more money. Because the price of the Sony HX99 is quite expensive at 8 million. The price is commensurate with a DSLR camera for starters. However, the high price is in accordance with the advantages possessed by Sony HX99.
