The Canon EOS R is the latest mirrorless camera with a 30-megapixel full-frame sensor. This camera is also equipped with dual Pixel AF CMOS that can work with minimum light up to -6EV. On the back there is also a 3.69 million dot electronic viewfinder with a magnification of 0.76x, and a 3.1-inch touch screen.
The emergence of the EOS R is Canon's breakthrough in providing innovation on a mirrorless camera. You could say this camera is Canon's first full frame mirrorless camera and launched a new RF lens mount.
The ability to record video is also amazing. The EOS R is capable of those 1080p or 4k videos. Equipped with high specifications, of course the price of the Canon EOS R will be set expensive. This camera will be released at a price of 41 million for body only.
The Canon EOS R has the latest lens mount called the RF mount. This lens mount has an inner diameter of 54mm and a 20mm flange-back distance. The Canon RF mount also features a 12-pin high-speed electrical interface that provides faster communication when used.
Although intended for semi-professional photographers, unfortunately the Canon EOS R does not offer sensor-shift image stabilization in the body. However, electronic IS is available for video that can be combined with optical image stabilization.
To maximize lens performance, Canon has developed the EF -Emos R mount adapter. That way Canon R has a 1.6x crop mode that produces 11.6-megapixel files and supports JPEG, RAW and C-RAW capture.
In addition, the mirrorless Canon EOS R has a slimmer body design than a full-frame DSLR in general. This camera also has a fairly light weight of 660g. Although it is lightweight, it still has a magnesium alloy construction and is weather resistant.
Canon R also offers a rear LCD flip-out screen that can be tilted up or down. The LCD used is a 3.15-inch type touch screen that offers around 2.1 million points of resolution and provides 100% field of view coverage.
The electronic viewfinder, meanwhile, has a 0.5 inch OLED screen with 3.69 million dots. EVF has a 100% field of view, 0.76x magnification, about 23mm eye point and eye sensor.
In the kitchen section Canon R uses a 30.3 megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor, which is equivalent to the 5D Mark IV even bigger than the 6D Mark II. When the latest mirrorless cameras from competitor Sony A7 III and Nikon Z6 appeared, Canon created the EOS R to match them.
Where both of these cameras have a 24 megapixel sensor, so the EOS R is able to be the best mirrorless camera of both. The full-frame CMOS sensor is then combined with the DIGIC 8 image processor, so the Canon EOS R photos have clear colors.
IOS performance on the EOS R is in the range of 100-40,000 which can be expanded to ISO 50 or up two levels to 51,200 and 102,400. In addition to standard RAW file capture, EOS R offers Dual Pixel RAW function, a feature that debuted on the 5D Mark IV.
With Dual Pixel RAW, you have the ability to make fine micro adjustments after capture for focus, bokeh and ghosting. The Dual Pixel CMOS AF system EOS R displays a maximum of 5,655 AF points that can be manually selected.
And the focus area covers about 88% of the frame horizontally and 100% vertically when using RF lenses and EF lenses selected. The AF working range ranges from -6 to 18 EV at ISO 100, but that is with an f / 1.2 lens.
Talking about continuous shooting performance, the Canon EOS R is relatively fast. This latest Mirrorless Canon is able to take continuous photos of up to 5 frames per second with Servo AF (continuous AF). You can increase the burst rate to 8fps if without using continuous AF.
With RAW shooting at the highest burst speed, the EOS R has a buffer depth of 47 frames with a fast UHS-II card, while the C-RAW format is 78 frames. For JPEG, RAW + JPEG and C-RAW + JPEG shots, the maximum buffer depth is 100, 39 and 56 frames.
For video recording, the Canon EOS R offers a number of advanced features, including 4K UHD capture. The EOS R offers 4K UHD recording (3840 x 2160) using H.264 but still at 30fp and around 1.7x crop factor.
However, the 4K bitrate is rather tolerable, at 480Mbps. EOS R also offers internal and external C-Log recording to an HDMI recorder. The HDMI output is 10-bit 4: 2: 2 and uses the BT.2020 color matrix rather than BT.709.
Full HD recording can also be done at frame rates of up to 60p. For high speed shooting up to 120fps, you have to go down to 720p HD resolution. The internal video recording format is MPEG-4 AVC / H.264, while the audio is recorded in Linear PCM for ALL-I or AAC for IPB.
To be able to record 4K video, an UHS-II SD card is required, whereas for UHS-I U3 cards it is only capable of IPS or lower resolution. To complete the Canon EOS R specifications, don't forget to also be equipped with wireless connectivity features such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, even though there is no NFC or built-in GPS.
You can use a smartphone that is already connected, you can transfer images and control the camera remotely using the Camera Connect application. Images can also be transferred wirelessly to a computer using the EOS Utility application.

There are also cable connections such as the SuperSpeed USB 3.1 Gen 1 USB-C port, the Mini HDMI Type-C port and the remote release jack. This camera also provides a 3.5mm stereo microphone and headphone jack. Images and videos are stored on the SD card in one slot, with support for SDHC, SDXC and UHS-II types.
The EOS R derives its power from the LP-E6N battery by using a CIPA battery rated 350 images per charging with EVF and 370 shots with LCD. Although the power saving mode can increase this number to 430 and 450 shots respectively.
There is also an Eco mode which further increases battery life to between 540 and 560 shots per charge when using the LCD. The optional BG-E22 battery handle doubles the battery life with two LP-E6N batteries installed. And with the AC adapter and DC coupler EOS R can be used longer.
Talking about the price of the Canon EOS R, this camera is priced into two variants. For body only, the camera is priced at 41 million. Whereas the Kit RF24-105mm f / 4L IS USM lens is priced at 58 million.
